They will only be this little once in their life.
And we want to capture this moment for you.
Photographing newborns is an art, that takes patience and skill. We spend hours studying and educating ourselves in working with babies, including posing and safety. To ensure getting the most out of your session with us, here are our tips:
1. Timeframe. Please let us know at least 6 weeks in advance that you would like to book a session. Ideally we want to photograph newborns between 6-14 days after birth. We do this because baby is much sleepier, and easier to pose because their bones are much softer at this age. Contacting us early will allow us to block out time around your due date.
2. Set up a consultation with us. We want to get to know your families personal style to design your little ones first portrait session. We have many blankets, outfits, headbands and props in our studio and are constantly adding to our collection. We also want to know if you want pfamily/sibling shots, or just baby. Coming into the studio and looking at what we have to offer will allow us to personalize your session.
3. Expectations. Newborn sessions are nothing like a traditional portrait sessions. These sessions can take anywhere from 2-4 hours. We are on baby's schedule, meaning we have to stop for feedings, diaper changes, outfit/blanket changes, etc. Because of this, we encourage families to leave young siblings at home (or have someone take them home after sibling/baby photographs). Bring snacks, take a short walk down Main Street, or simply sit back and relax; we will take care of you and baby!
